Some of you may have noticed that button on the sidebar. Today is the day I facilitate a conversation at blog|Philadelphia on open source marketing. Chances are, I'm doing just that as you're reading this post.
I've been warming up to the concept for quite some time. And in conversations with other bloggers and professionals who joined yesterday I got the sense that things are indeed headed that way. Since this is an unconference, the subject matter fits.
It is also fitting for the readers of The Blog Herald, as they are getting a preview of what my three reasons why blogging is open source marketing right now. Both the readers at The Blog Herald and the people in the conversation with me now at blog|Philadelphia can talk to each other through the comments at that post -- and of course everyone is welcome here. That is also open source marketing.
We covered a lot of ground yesterday and I will have a more thoughtful post on that later. One of my observations at the end of the day was that we talked a lot about many interesting topics related to social media.
Yet, we did not really talk about the readers, the audience, the people who choose to spend their time immersed in the conversation with us. You.
[Josh Hallett, Dave Coustan, me, David Parmet and his son Jeremy -- for more great shots go to the group pool; I'm still learning how to use my camera, as you can see if you scroll through]
Technology is only providing the tools; it is the people we should be talking about. Let's cover that today. Right here, right now.
- Does having a live feed, all the time (new to at least part of your visitors), change the way you relate to people?
- How has your ability to publish your own content changed the way you think and conduct your business?
- Has talk through these (social) media, changed your life?

Good luck!
BTW: nice blog redesign.

I've really been wanting to get to Philly for awhile. It's hard to find a good open-source cheesesteak (wit) here in Texas. :)
Sounds like you're on the right track. Can't wait to read your thoughts.

Valeria, your session was awesome. Thanks for coming and starting the conversation!

@Roger -- I have recommended your blog to several attendees as a place where to think differently about what we already know and to spark further creativity. I rather like the new layout myself ;-)
@Cam -- you would have fit right in with this crowd, of that I'm sure. So many ideas, so many interesting and passionate people!
@Annie -- you totally rocked on the organization of this event and being able to wrangle 270+ free agents throughout. Bloggers and new media types have opinions. I also liked that you invited members of the old media to attend. That was a great touch!
