As we've seen last month with Mark Goren of Transmission Content + Creative, this format works very well to set up the sharing of email conversations online.
I've been a fan of fresh thinking my whole life so when I came across Living Light Bulbs I reached out to the author and publisher, Ryan Karpeles. In particular, I was interested in extending the conversation he started at his post on What's Next? in marketing.
Ryan is interviewing for a job and has been sharing his take on that experience as well. I know that many of my readers are students who have graduated or will be graduating in the coming months. It will be worth your time checking his blog and meeting him. There is no doubt in my mind that a brilliant marketing career awaits him. And to those companies that are not calling him back -- do yourself a favor, follow up on his interviews. It is common courtesy to be polite and close the communication loop. That will be the subject of another post.
Ryan and I exchanged emails over the course of a few hours one evening on what's next in marketing. We talked about:
- listening and interacting
- providing value
- giving and taking control
- acting on feedback
- experimenting and innovating
Many have contributed to the posts with their insightful comments, thanks go to Greg Krauska, Toby Bloomberg, Joe Raasch, and Cam Beck for making the conversation an even greater learning opportunity for all involved. You may download the portable PDF here Download ask_away_with_ryan_karpeles.pdf.
