Eleven years ago, Craig Newmark said in an interview that community is about connecting people who need a break with people who might be able to give them one. It's all about people helping one another. The idea is not new.
How do we build useful tools people will pay for? By figuring out what makes them useful -- e.g., helps them do what they want to do more easily and quickly. Think immediacy, accessibility, findability, personalization, a sense of authenticity worth paying attention to, embodiment.
